God has given women a powerful job. He has called us to manage our homes. (Titus 2:3-5) This may not seem like job with power but remember who hates the home: Satan. He has a special hatred for our home because it houses the family (and God loves the family). Satan wants to make his way into your home. He prowls around like a lion searching for families to devour. (1 Peter 5:8) You must be on our guard. If you choose to sin or stay in sin, it leaves the gates open for the enemy. If you get angry or bitter and don’t resolve it, if you can’t control lustful or sinful thoughts etc., you are leaving your home open for him and your sin will effect your children and your husband.
Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.
Philippians 4:8
When my husband teaches on the subject of sin and opening the door for Satan in our home, he always likes to use this example: “If I choose to sin and leave my wife, is it going to have an effect on my children?”. And the answer is always a huge yes. But let’s look at smaller examples. What if you just read inappropriate articles on-line? Or Listen to music with inappropriate lyrics? I have heard kids around the age of 9 singing songs about sex and promiscuity because their parents listen to certain radio stations. This is all going to effect our kids. Their world views are forming. In one of my classes at missions school, they talked about a child’s world view being formed by the age of about 7. We need to try and give our kids a godlier world view though holy living. We should be focused upon being more and more Christ-like. Try to encompass your reading, music, movies, magazines, words, and even your thoughts to be:
True
Noble
Pure
Lovely
Admirable
Excellent and
Praiseworthy
You are the caretakers of your home. Is the essence of it lovely? Guard your Internet if you have it. I have heard that in the U.S. boys (starting at the age of 10) are looking at inappropriate material. Guard your T.V. if you have one. Even some commercials I have seen when we go to someone’s house are very provocative and sinful. Every object and attitude in your home should in some way exalt the Lord. I love walking into a fellow believer’s home and feel the coziness, closeness, and love. Look at your life and see if it matches Scripture. If it doesn’t, ask God to show you what you need to change and how to do it. If you think it does match, awesome, but continue to ask God to show you areas you may need to change.
Make every effort to guard your homes. You are training the next generation to either seek the Lord, or deny Him.

What an edifying, needful post! You are so right in all you said. As women, we are to be those keepers at home, and we are to “guide the house”. There is much that goes into that position of “guide”. I agree with you…we don’t have television in our home, but oh, are we appalled when we go to other people’s homes and see the filth of the commercials. There is just no control over what is being flashed before one’s eyes, and once it enters through the eyes, it is hard to get it out of the mind. Dear Lord, help us to be diligent about our roles as Godly wives and mothers! I found your post on the link-up. It was so nice to “meet” you! God bless you and your sweet family. 🙂
